Better Stamp

I decided to add a background of text that has the word "need" repeated over and over. I think that it looks a lot better.

Finished Stamp

I have finished my stamp for the themes need, puppy and stamp. I can't think of anything else to add in the stamp so it looks kind of plain. I made the outline of a dog, instead of a puppy, and then colored in photo shop. Finding something to do with need was the hardest part, so after awhile I decided that I would just add the words "needneedneed" along the neck where a collar would go. I think that it looks pretty cool and even though it is pretty plain I like it and think that it looks like an actual stamp.

Goals

By the end of the week, I want to have finished my stamp project. I have the stamp background complete, and the dog fairly close to complete, so I need to put the two together and then figure out what to do with "need". This should not be too hard of a task to complete.

Reflection

I started to create my "puppy" which actually looks more like a dog but I think it looks nice. I have a stamp background and like the way this is turning out.

Inspirational Images

For my need, puppy and stamp themes I decided that I would make a stamp. I like the actual photographs of dogs in the first and last stamps but I really like the Animals on the second stamp. I like how the Animals just kind of flow and look really nice. I think that I may try and do something like that for my stamp.

Proposal

I randomly selected three different themes (Need, Stamp and Puppy) and I am going to somehow relate them. I think that I want to make a photo montage but the other ideas I have with these themes are pretty random so I am just going to see what happens.

Goal

I am having a difficult time picking another theme project so my first goal is to pick a theme. After that I would like to find inspirational images and write my proposal. I should be able to get this done today and then I can work on the project next class.

4:29 Theme Finished

This is the finished product for the 4:29 theme. I decided that for the theme I was going to create the most realistic wall clock that I could. I think that I met my overall goal very well because the clock looks pretty realistic. I thought that the process would take a lot longer but with the help of a quick tutorial I was able to create the Minute and Hour marks fairly easily. So I am very happy with the turnout of this project.

Inspiration

.
Each of these images of clocks have something that I would like to incorporate into my project. I like the minute dashes from the red clock. I want to base my clock off of the middle clock because I like the overall structure and look of the clock. I really like the Hour, Minute and Second hands of the third clock so that is why I chose it. I definitely want my clock to be black and white and I want it to look as real as possible.

Theme

For the 4:29 PM theme, I have decided that I will create a basic wall clock in Illustrator and make the clock at 4:29. This shouldn't be too hard, but you never know.

What If Pigs Could Fly

I finished my "What If..." theme by finishing the thought with "Pigs Could Fly". I am pretty happy with the way that this turned out and I am glad that I chose this theme. It wasn't very hard, the hardest part was probably finding the pictures of different pigs and wings to use.

Tuesday, April 24, 2012

Goal

This week I want to finish or get close to finishing my What If... theme project. I just have to add some text and then touch up the image and I will be done.

Reflection

This is my progress on mt "What If..." theme so far. I should be done fairly soon and just want to touch it up and add the text "What If... Pigs could fly" and then I should be done. I like the way that this has turned out so far.

Inspirational Images

I like the way that most of these images turned out and that is way they are an inspiration to me. Although we all know that pigs and cows cannot fly, the artist for each of these did a good job making it believable. I want to try and make my image as realistic as possible so that it looks nice and professional. I like the background of the two images with pigs so I think that I will just use a blue sky with clouds for the background.

Weekly Goal

This week I hope to find my inspirational images and write about them, and then begin to construct my image in photoshop.

Theme

I think that I am going to try to create a project based on the "What if..." theme.

Reflection

This is my final render of my guitar amp. I think that it turned out pretty well. I accomplished my overall goal because I finished it on time.

Friday, March 30, 2012

Reflection

I kind of met my goal because I did get through the whole video on rendering but the scene is not turning out too well. It is very bright so I will have to try and tweak some settings.

Monday, March 26, 2012

Weekly Goal

This week I hope to work on rendering my amp and it's surroundings. I started to go through a video tutorial last week so hopefully I can finish that video this week.

Thursday, March 22, 2012

Reflection

I think that I have accomplished my goal, the scene around the amp looks good and I started to render my scene.

Tuesday, March 20, 2012

Weekly Goal

This week I hope to get my scene around the amp done and then maybe start to render. It shouldn't take too long to finish creating the scene.

Friday, March 16, 2012

Reflection

I feel like I met my goal this week because the amp looks a lot more realistic. I added the text below each knob to make it like look an amp actually does. I also began to set up a basic scene for my model to sit in.

Monday, March 12, 2012

Weekly Goal

This week I want tweak settings and add things to the scene to get ready to start lighting and doing other things. I am on schedule with my breakdown because during March, I said I would be setting up the scene and making it look as realistic as possible and I am doing just that.

Thursday, March 1, 2012

Reflection

I think that I accomplished my goal this week. I added a bump texture to the case of the amp to make it look more realistic. I also began to mess around with the mesh texture in the front. I remodeled the main part of the amp so I could have the mesh texture on just the bottom half.

Tuesday, February 28, 2012

Weekly Goals

This week I hope to continue making the amp look more realistic. This means adding textures and detail to make it look real.

Friday, February 24, 2012

Breakdown reflection

I feel like I am on schedule with my breakdown and maybe a little bit ahead of schedule. I wanted to start to add textures and finalize everything in march and I am beginning that in February.

Reflection

I feel like I accomplished my goal this week but the main thing that I am pretty happy with is the new tone knobs that I made. Mr. Elmore helped me figure how to make ridges along the side of the knob. I think that they look a lot better now.

Weekly Goal

This week I plan to make the pedals more realistic by adding textures or colors and then maybe some text like you would see on an actual pedal.

Wednesday, February 15, 2012

Reflection

I feel like I met my goal. I created two more effects pedals on Monday and then messed around with textures today. I really like the way the 2nd pedal from the right turned out.

Monday, February 13, 2012

Weekly Goal

This week I hope to add one more different effect pedal and make sure everything is ready for textures.

Thursday, February 9, 2012

Reflection

I feel like I met my goal pretty well, I got some effects pedals modeled but I did not start to add texture to the amp, but that is okay. I ran into some unwanted faces on the input jacks but I deleted them and everything was fine.

Tuesday, February 7, 2012

Weekly Goal

This week I want to start modeling some effects pedals and maybe began to add texture to the amp.

Friday, February 3, 2012

Reflection

I think that the amp looks okay and the basic structure is close to done. I am starting to work on the back of the amp now. Today I made the casing for the outside of the Amp.

Tuesday, January 24, 2012

Goal 9/24

This week I plan to get close to finishing the basic structure of the guitar amp. Nothing will be into to much detail yet but it shouldn't look like a box anymore.

Progress

My sketch took most of my time so I just went into maya and played around with some ideas for the amp.

Wednesday, January 11, 2012

The Breakdown

January: I want to finish my sketches for the scene and then start to model the amp. Since the amp is the focus of the scene, I will put most of my time into making it look the best possible. I should be able to get the basic shape of the amp and the knobs finished.

February: I hope to go into more detail with amp and possibly start to build some effects pedals. By the end of February, I want most of the details of the objects to be done.

March: I want to begin to texture all of my objects and make them look as real as possible. I also want to setup the scene (build a platform and walls so the objects are not floating) and setup the lighting. I will do test still renders to check on how the scene looks.

April: I want to have my scene completed and do the final still render.

My Proposal

I plan to make one medium sized guitar amplifier and then make a few effects pedals. If I don’t get to much trouble, then I would also like to make guitar cord connect all of them. I plan to use Maya to model all of these objects. I will start out on the amp and then when I get done with it I will start to model the effects pedals. I want the amp to be clean, new and bright, kind of like my art analysis photo. The effects pedals will be in front of the amp and will be different colors and sizes. I plan to have all of this modeled by April 6th.

Art Analysis

The artist who created this image is Stephen Keller and he titled this project “Guitar Amplifier.” This artwork is just like the title describes, it is a guitar amplifier that was modeled using 3D software. The amp is sitting in front of a white wall and a wooden floor. On the amp, there are the usual knobs that come on a guitar amp. It looks very realistic in my eyes. It is easy to tell what it is and tell what each knob and button does.

In this image, the artist uses different textures to help the amp look more realistic. He used a rough and bumpy texture on the outside of the amp and used lines that intersect each other in the middle of the amp to recreate the mesh in front of the speaker. He even adds what appears to be stitching on the handle on top of the amp. He used the colors of the amp that he was trying to model. He choose his background colors to be white and a pale wood. This helps bring out the dark color of the amp and gives it more dimension. The artist also uses lighting to make it look realistic.

I think that the artist’s intentions behind this work was to recreate an actual guitar amp. He tried to make it look just like the actual thing, without the logos. The mood in this image is bright and happy because of the colors used.

I really like this artwork because the artist does a very good job of recreating a guitar amp. I like the colors that he used and also the textures that were used. This piece reflects what I am trying to do because I am trying to make a guitar amplifier just like he did. I don’t want to make the same exact one but I want mine to look nice and clean like this one.

Idea

I think that I want to model a locker room that you would see in professional sports stadiums but I am not completely sure yet.
